1) Own a Fiat Punto

and

2) Have problems filling it up with Petrol?

I usually have to get the nozzle pointing in some obscure angle even Escher would have nightmares about to stop the damn thing constantly cutting out!

would be nice to know its not just me being an utter knob.

I have the same problem with my Corsa.

Stupid cars.
I usually keep the nozzle just inside the hole (oo-er), that seems to work.

But it's a common problem. Some cars just don't like being penetrated by a big throbbing nozzle, and get a sort of airlock that triggers the anti-spill cutout.

Try holding the trigger about 3/4 rather than all the way back.

I feather the trigger as much as possible but its never ideal. In Tesco's once I was there so damn long I actually ran out of time on the pump, only got about 15 litres in!

I had a fiat punto once.
Filling it up with petrol was the least of my problems with that trashcan on wheels.

If it's fairly new
Take it to nice Fiat people (oxymoron alert) and they should be able to have a bend of the filler neck - it's got a bit of flex in it as the tank is basically held on to the bottom of the car with a couple of bits of packing tape and the filler pipe goes through the rigid (yes, even in a Fiat) bodyshell.

2) Had problems too.. If I remember I found that the best way was to not put it in all the way (ooer) but just enough so you dont piss petrol all over the floor.

are the same. Stick the nozzle right in and it cuts out every litre or less, put it in just enough so it doesn't gush everywhere and it's fine. Pain in the arse though.

If you live in Scotland at the moment
you'd have a hard time filling it up with anything, as all the talk of strikes has caused these daft bastards to go out and fill up their tanks, resulting in a lot of the filling stations running out of fuel.

What gets me is that some garages are imposing a maximum quantity, like £20 worth. Wouldn't it be better to say that you had to buy a minimum quantity, to discourage the panic buyers and leave the fuel for people who actually heeded the advice and didn't fill up their tanks until they were actually needing fuel. Like me.

Sorry for the rant - I've been mad about this all day.
