Dear my colonoscopy,
Dear my colonoscopy,
Things you don't want to hear as you slip into sedation:
"Is this the clean camera?"
God bless the NHS,
TheSnark

Because it's bad enough having a few feet of flexible hose
rammed up your arse when you're semi concious, I dread to think what it's like when you're fully awake.
I know some people would pay good money for that kind of treatment, but I can honestly say that I would not be one of them!

What's the difference between the two?
They both involve getting something shoved up your arse, so the technical details aren't really that important!

Uhhh
Endoscope goes down your throat. I've had an ERCP and while not remembering much, I do remember bening asked to clamp my mouth onto a plastic hole for the tube to feed through.

Ah, sorry
I thought an endoscopy was in the tradesmen's entrance too, just looking at a different bit.
I don't really fancy either, to be honest.

There's a medical blog somewhere with a large section about colonoscopies.
Apparently some people, under the sedation, think they're being buggered and react accordingly.

other things you don't want to hear...
"ooh that made your eyes water" which is what the observing nurse said to me during an endoscopy! I wasn't sedated and didn't find it very funny at the time ...I do now but it was a long time ago!

I heard
couldn't make out most of what the anaesthetist was saying but as I slipped under I did catch
"noch ein verdammter Ausländer!"
or "another bloody foreigner!"
