that's the sight that I fear most.
Rather have a piece of toast,
and watch the evening news...

Second place went to Snap's Rhythm is a Dancer which goes "I'm as serious as cancer/ When I say rhythm is a dancer".
In third place was "And I met a girl/ She asked me my name/ I told her what it was" from Razorlight's 2005 hit Somewhere Else.
Other songs to make the top 10 are U2's Elevation (Been living like a mole now/ Going down, excavation), Champagne Supernova by Oasis (Slowly walking down the hall/ Faster than a cannonball) and Black Sabbath's War Pigs (Generals gathered in their masses/ Just like witches at black masses).

Given the 'chained to the mirror and the razorblade' parts of Champagne Supernova, Mr Gallagher is describing the feeling of walking along high as a kite. Given the amount of bolivian marching powder they admitted to getting through, he's probably not far off.
Anyway, there are much worse lyrics out there. for example Destiny's Child "The shoes on my feet, I bought it." It? It? Singular? Do you bloody hop everywhere then?
Idle writing balls.

In my younger days I experienced something like it: Shuffling down a corridor, almost passing out, then suddenly banging into the door that had been miles away a second ago. When I heard the Oasis lyric I thought he described the experience well.

From Moonlight Shadow
When the fuck else does 4 a.m. happen? Lazy AND stupid, especially when "4 o'clock" would scan just as well.
The worst of it is, it's quite common for people to say that now.

I quite like Muse. But I have to admit that Matt Bellamy is an one of the most awful lyricists in the whole world - His recent Official Olympics song: (which the BBC, conspicuously, didn't play very often)
Race, life’s a race
And I am gonna win
Yes, I am gonna win
And I’ll light the fuse
And I’ll never lose
And I choose to survive
Whatever it takes
You won’t pull ahead
I’ll keep up the pace
And I’ll reveal my strength
To the whole human race
Yes I am prepared
To stay alive
I won’t forgive, the vengeance is mine
And I won’t give in
Because I choose to thrive
I’m gonna win
Race, it’s a race
But I’m gonna win
Yes I’m gonna win
And will light the fuse
I’ll never lose
And I choose to survive
Whatever it takes
You won’t ṗull ahead
I’ll keep up the pace
And I’ll reveal my strength
To the whole human race
Yes I’m gonna win
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Win! Win! Win! Win!
Yes I’m gonna win

I get out of bed at half past ten
Phone up a friend, who's a party animal
Turn on the news and drink some tea
Maybe if you're with me we'll do some shopping
One day I'll read, or learn to drive a car
If you pass the test, you can beat the rest
But I don't like to compete, or talk street, street, street
I can pick up the best from the party animal
I could leave you, say goodbye
Or I could love you, if I try
And I could
And left to my own devices, I probably would
