In Cleckheaton?

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 20:56, 2 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
No, it was near Sowerby Bridge.

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 20:57, Reply)
That'll explain it then.
All sorts of shit up there.

How yer doin? Nice to meet you the other night, albeit briefly.

I've got to say - take this whichever way you want - you WEREN'T the Woodside I'd pictured.

Fuck me son, you know your music though.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:00, Reply)
Unlike some people.

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:09, Reply)
If you'd ever told me
That I'd be discussing The Fall and all their foibles down a back street in Heaton I might just have believed you.

If you'd ever told me that I'd meet someone dismissing The Clash, and refusing to accept the validity of Deep Purple as one of the world's most seminal bands I'd have dismissed it as alcohol-induced fantasy.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:16, Reply)
I said I didn't know Deep Purple, not that I didn't like them!
And I stand by what I said about The Clash.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:29, Reply)
No - you thought Cream were Deep Purple.
You don't know what a disgusting mistake that really is.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:32, Reply)
In my defence, I wasn't even close to sober!

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:42, Reply)
Drunken defence
Does not excuse multiple crimes against music.

Buffoon. Wear the condemnation thus issued as a disapprobriate badge.

I've just done my last driving job and am therefore not to sober.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:50, Reply)
International man of mystery, that's me.
Also, thank you. You were very wise to turn down that bloody awful rum/tea concoction; I nearly saw it again during the small hours.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:44, Reply)
I am intrigued now
what was he like as opposed to the one you'd pictured?
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:49, Reply)
I think I'll turn that on it's head
How do YOU picture Woodside?
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:54, Reply)
tall, thin, communist

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:02, Reply)
Tall and thin
We didn't talk politics.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:12, Reply)
Well 2/3 isn't bad I guess
I haven't really got any other mental image attached to him, other than perhaps faintly androgynous
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:15, Reply)
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, no.
(It's all one or the other with me.)
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:16, Reply)
Decent geezer
If rather quietly spoken which is a problem to me as I'm partially deaf.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:20, Reply)
You should hear me after a skinful, a torrent of Barnslish escapes my mouth a mile a minute.

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:23, Reply)
I think I'm quiet
then I come to Ireland and realise everyone thinks I'm talking quite loudly. They're really quietly spoken
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:26, Reply)

watchu talkin bout Willis?
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:31, Reply)
This line of questioning can only end in disappointment.

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:01, Reply)
They've been keeping that quiet

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 20:57, Reply)
Lots of things get kept quiet up Sowerby way - if you know what I mean.
You were exactly the person I'd pictured! Well done.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:04, Reply)
Is that good? :/

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:23, Reply)
Are we sorting out a Leeds bash?
Big ol' smiley man at yer service.

Of course it's good.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:29, Reply)
The Angel and the Vic & Commercial have been the venues of choice for past events.
Mr. Foley's is supposed to be a good'un too.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:50, Reply)
Angel is hellfire!

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:52, Reply)
Did I mention the Royal Hotel, Armley (RIP) in my ramblings?
It was a delightful place. Completely bare walls, one knackered pool table, nowhere to sit apart from a handful of low stools, and it was the only place in the district (and ferchrissakes we're talking about Armley here) that wasn't on the Pubwatch scheme. Oh, and there was a big handwritten sign on the door of the bogs saying "ANYONE CAUGHT TAKING DRUGS ON THE PREMISES WILL BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE".

What I'm trying to say is: the Angel in't that bad really.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 21:58, Reply)
The Angel in Leeds town centre?
I haven't been there in years.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:04, Reply)
Strip joint, wasn't it?
They used to go there, then the Nelson, then the place under Kirkstall Viaduct (The Sun?).

I'm getting a little worried now...time for gaz, I think.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:05, Reply)
No, the place I'm on about is a smallish old-fashioned (and cheap) pub in the side streets round Briggate.

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:08, Reply)
That's The Angel

(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:09, Reply)
Aye.
It's not been a strip joint during the last few years I've been dropping in.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:17, Reply)
Angel isn't.
Royal in Armley is - or was.
(, Thu 30 Dec 2010, 22:22, Reply)
Oh, I see. *belm*
No, by then it was just a shithole.
