thank you darling
so rent for the december quarter (25 dec - 24 march) would therefore attract vat at either rate? sorry, our entire corporate tax dept seems to be on the phone or generally avoiding me!

edit - they have now confirmed what you said, by electing the tax point to be the date of payment as no invoice was sent out previously. you're a star.

Here's a good example question:
If you are paying rent on a quarterly basis and pay the rent for December 2010 to February 2011 on 24th December 2010, does the landlord have the right to apportion the VAT relating to the period after 4th January 2011?

The tax point for standard rated property rentals is the date you issue a VAT invoice or receive payment if earlier. You do not need to apportion the rent between the amount up to 3rd January 2011 and after 3rd January 2011.

i wish you worked here

I wish I worked there too, with a more interesting job
Do you have bins in the office?
Do the bins need emptying?
I could be the guy who empties the bins and goes through everyones desk drawers when the office is empty.

Let's face it, you're going to be hard pushed to find a job in accounting interesting anywhere.

we had a cleaner who did that
the bugger nicked £100 of hair products from my desk when my latest shampoo order arrived.

anyway they have now nicked him (which will teach me to be sexist as i was sure it would be a woman) and i am being reimbursed so all is well. but i don't recommend it as a career.

I dunno, my hair is the longest it's been in years. I could do with some decent hair products.
What with snow & work, I haven't been able to get it cut. I was going to book an appointment for saturday. Guess what's forecast for friday? More bastard snow.

ideally men should have just enough hair to be tousled
and to run your fingers through. unless it's curly, in which case do us all a favour and shave that 'fro

I am determined to get it cut this weekend
quite frankly I look shocking

Baldies and skin heads are nice too.

(, Wed 5 Jan 2011, 15:12, Reply)
i know loads of girls who love shaved heads
it's just personal preference - i don't mind it (in fact, don't even notice it if they tick other boxes like making me laugh), but given a free rein i'll take a nicely tousled head of hair please.

*flicks hair*
I beg to differ.
