I need to drop the weight
and besides if you eat healthily there's a lot fewer calories than you anticipate. Soup is a life saver

Soup is lovely
I bought myself a black pepper grinder mill and a squeezy thing of chili/jalapeno sauce which I put a tiny bit in, pretty much tastes like a meal then

good job
soup is good shit, regardless of what some people might say

Indeed it is
I wish I had the facilities/knowledge to make my own, but Baxters will do for now

I can recommend the pouches of Bachelors stuff
if you like curry then the Chicken Balti soup is well worth trying.

The ones that come in little plastic pots that go in the microwave are good too. Particularly Sainsbury's moroccan chicken one

I'll hunt them out
my main objective is to avoid really high calorie ones. I saw a soup that was about 500 calories for one smallish serving
(, Tue 11 Jan 2011, 20:17, Reply)
that's outrageous
Bachelors Express I think is the name, even the meaty, ricey ones are fairly good calorie wise. Filling too.

I find that a lot of the tinned ones taste the same after a while.

I'll look out for them
I like meaty soups but wouldn't trust them from a can so that may be a very good option thanks.

no worries :-)

I made soup for the first time a few weeks ago
I am now kicking myself that I didn't start earlier, it's reeedonkulously easy to do and a good way of using up miscellaneous vegetables.

sorry, I keep forgetting that there's a shit ton of different soups you can make
I'm used to the veggie soup my mum made my whole life, and nothing else
I did have a bowl of potato soup today for lunch
but I made it proper fatty by adding cheese and bacons

whats your favorite sort of soup?
(, Tue 11 Jan 2011, 20:12, Reply)
my favourite one to make is prawn and sweetcorn chowder
which is served with mashed potato in the middle and a sprinkling of crunchy bacon and spring onions
(, Tue 11 Jan 2011, 20:14, Reply)

I quite like vegetable soup
but french onion soup with pieces of beef put in is delicious.

How was the potato soup?
(, Tue 11 Jan 2011, 20:14, Reply)
nothing special really, she didn't follow the recipe (roommate made it)
allrecipes.com//Recipe/Baked-Potato-Soup/Detail.aspx
the recipe is much better than her version
(, Tue 11 Jan 2011, 20:19, Reply)
That looks quite tasty
much better than canned
(, Tue 11 Jan 2011, 20:25, Reply)
it really is, when she makes it though she doesn't add any spices, it's just the cream and stock
it's good in it's own right but basic
this recipe is very good and doesn't take too long to make
