What. The. Fuck.
I'm glad I didn't watch it this week, I think - that girl looks like she's exploded.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:32, 3 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
You'll watch it on 4OD this evening I'll bet.

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:32, Reply)
I fucking won't
the whole thing looks revolting, and reading this daily fail article is making me even more angry than the daily fail usually does.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:36, Reply)
Go on.
It will make you feel superior.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:38, Reply)
Haha, my self esteem is not so low
that I need to look at under-educated, under-dressed, under-age girls brainwashed in to a way of life that is fucking ridiculous, quite frankly, to give myself an ego boost.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:41, Reply)
Well it's just me then.

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:43, Reply)
Your self esteem shouldn't be that low either
you're ace :)

even if you do have questionable taste in tv programmes...
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:51, Reply)
Racist.

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:39, Reply)
it's not as bad as it seems
my mrs made me watch it last week, and I spent the whole time either aghast or laughing hysterically.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:40, Reply)
Jeff and Lampito nagged me in to watching last weeks
I was pretty much the same. I kind of admire their morals, to be honest, but the beliefs and traditions that they hold can mostly fuck off.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:42, Reply)
and the whole moving onto people's land uninvited and fucking it up
and the non-obeying of laws and such
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:44, Reply)
Well there's a traveller community here who have been given land
They've been here for decades and they're no worse neightbours than the people who live on the housing estate next to them.
So maybe more approved sites would be a good idea. Cheaper than bulding flats for them, flats they don't want.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:00, Reply)
yeah, I'm all for that sort of thing
round here they have a habit of just moving in wherever, fucking it up and fucking off.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:02, Reply)
Every cultures weddings are a bit OTT
it's just a difference in taste.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:45, Reply)
Well it's a celebration
it just doesn't have to be so gaudy, slutty, pink and in generally poor taste. If I were ever to get married - unlikely as I really don't want to - I would want something nice. Not something that cost a lot of money yet looks so fucking cheap and nasty.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:53, Reply)
It's quite strange really, I wonder if they know why they're being put on TV
Or that people think that their taste is so bad. The brides all seem to be teenagers I think that has a lot to do with it.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:56, Reply)
I suspect they would be just as cheap and slaggy
if the cameras weren't there. It's all an expectation thing I suppose, they grow up seeing all of their friends and siblings and cousins and whatnot get married in these pink poofy monstrousities and think that it's something to aspire to.
Poor fuckers.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:02, Reply)
Like Chomp said, it's just a difference in taste.
I prefer plain things too. They like gaudy things.
And to them it DOES have to look like that or it's boring and 'cheap' (in their terms).
Leave them to it. It's an entirely different culture.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:03, Reply)
NO!
Burn them all!
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:09, Reply)
Well, exactly.
I love 'them' and 'us' conversations.
Everyone talks such sense when making generalisations ;)
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:11, Reply)
Burn everyone who I don't like
Or that doesn't directly work to make my life better.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:11, Reply)
it's hard to not to talk in generalisations
particularly if ones experience does nothing to dispell them.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:13, Reply)
My nana got attacked by three dogs from an unauthorised traveller site.
It hasn't made me "universally hate" travellers or gypsies.
People make generalisations like that about women (or men) and get shot down. YOUR experience isn't the whole experience.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:16, Reply)
you cannot deny that if your were to ask many people their opinion on them that the reaction would be "cunts" or similar
I said "fairly universally hated" meaning that most people would say they hate them, not that everyone hates them universally.

I am aware that my experience isn't the whole experience, nor is that of anyone else, but on the whole most people don't put a lot of thought into things and as such are bound to react based on their experience. It's natural.

Frankly, as with most things, I couldn't give a fuck as long as it doesn't affect me or those I hold dear personally.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:22, Reply)
ignoring the lights and such
I think it's pretty cool, all of it, the whole lifestyle
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:40, Reply)
You don't mean that, do you?

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:42, Reply)
I do.
Maybe it's because it's the way they've been doing it for centuries, and they stick to it.
I think the dresses are ridiculous, to be honest, but every girl wants to feel like a princess on their big day and if this is what makes them feel that way than good for them.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:00, Reply)
it may appear that way
but they are broadly uneducated, including basics like reading and writing, they are fairly universally hated over here because a lot of them have a habit of fucking things up.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:47, Reply)
Like those blacks
Sex mad, work-shy and terrified of the cold.
All the men live in hostels together and try to dance with our women.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:04, Reply)
for shame

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:06, Reply)
I don't have a problem with other cultures
it's ours that pisses me off. Most notably, Exeter Uni students.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:08, Reply)
Yeah, our culture is shot.
We don't know when to stop, anything.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:10, Reply)
I think more people should take a leaf out of my cliched cultural book
you don't get much happier than a bearded stoner surfer in a band.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 14:12, Reply)
that was exactly my reaction
I don't feel I've missed out on anything by not watching it.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 13:40, Reply)
I like seeing Thelma the dressmaker from the shop near my uncle Tony's 'office'.
