Channel 4 have just shown a woman sat on the loo and peeing on a stick.
Why?
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 20:51, 3 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
is there a punchline?

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 20:58, Reply)
I just thought that it could be something inferred without having to actually watch her do it.

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:01, Reply)
what was the context
because I can't see a context where it would be constructive
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:03, Reply)
She had to pee on one of them litmus type stick things to check on a chart.
I see no reason for us to actually watch her peeing on it.

I'm not getting into this again
in case I start another argument.

But I'm glad they didn't go down the knee-jerk 'all diets are bad' route. The show has been pretty balanced, to be fair.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:01, Reply)
It was very interesting.

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:02, Reply)
the argument or the programme?

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:03, Reply)
Who was arguing?
I meant the programme.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:04, Reply)
In the lunchtime thread
I was talking about Lighterlife (the one the stick-peeer was on) and I was saying how fantastic I found it.

Badger started in on everyone (mostly Roota, but don't tell djtp) about how diets were evil and were going to kill us.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:18, Reply)
Ah! I'm sure Roota can stick up for herself.
Unless snow is involved. She's crap in snow.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:25, Reply)
oh she totally fucking can

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:28, Reply)
I just get really stressy when people take the moral highground over diets
especially when they don't me and how I struggle with food. I might feasibly have had to flounce off before I took it personally.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:34, Reply)
Many times this
it's very easy for a thin person to say 'oh well, just eat less and exercise more' - it's a lot fucking harder than that.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:36, Reply)
If you have an eating disorder and you're underweight, everyone takes that seriously
if you have an eating disorder that makes you overeat you're just a fat bitch.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:43, Reply)
you really couldn't have had a worse sibling huh?
It still shocks me how certain members of our family negatively affected your body image.
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:52, Reply)
It happens in a lot of families.

(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:56, Reply)

that's how you read that?
he calmly said that fad diets are generally bad for you in the long run and that eating healthily and regular exercise is the best thing to do.

Don't see anything wrong with that.
(, Thu 27 Jan 2011, 9:22, Reply)

You can always do more laps
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 21:12, Reply)
Unless you can't exercise much
sometimes it's not feasible to eat 1000 calories a day for the rest of your life
(, Wed 26 Jan 2011, 22:39, Reply)
I don't really know calories that well
but shouldn't both men and women be eating a lot more than 1,000 a day? I should probably keep my mouth shut on the issue of dieting as I'm a bastard who's never been on one.
