I have just discovered that Korn and Clutch are playing Download
and a couple of other half decent bands.

Unfortunately the most disappointing bands from Sonisphere last year are also playing in the form of The Cult, Pendulum and Alice Cooper.

Is it worth going just to see Korn and Clutch?

No

I will qualify that by adding I know nothing of any of those bands, and yet it's still no

imagine that you really quite liked them
how about then?

No, you'll still be stuck in a muddy field with a load of repulsive wankers
contemplating shitting into a variety mix bay for crisps (Phoenix 1996) in order to avoid the slurry of the portaloo's

I've been lucky not to go to a festival that minging
Sonisphere is pleasantly clean, and Roskilde was Scandanavian/European and therefore well organised.

Bloodstock was well run, just unfortunate to have shitloads of rain on the first day, made the entire walkway on the campsite a quagmire
Giggity

Hospitality at Glastonbury was pretty good, there was some semblance of hygiene in place

No, but it's worth going to Sonisphere to see the Big 4.
The site set up for Download is really shit, so the bands have to be amazing to compensate.

I'd love to go to Sonisphere this year.

last year was fucking awesome
couple of my favourite less well known bands played and were outstanding, and there were a couple of excellent surprises. Like how much I enjoyed Slayer, and that Gary Numan was brilliant.

I like Slayer on record
But live, I find them quite dull.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 9:57, Reply)
they were utterly superb last year
one of those gigs made so much better because the band look like they are really enjoying themselves

The crowd going mental when Tom Araya roared "raining blooooooood!"
Now that's a fucking memory from when I saw them.

that is interesting
I have no interest in seeing Anthrax again. I'd quite like to see the others, but have seen Metallica and Slayer enough that it's not getting me really excited.

Would need another band or two to sweeten the deal.

Motorhead and Mastodon are playing
Mastodon are amazing. And Motorhead are consistently great, with occasional flashes of being amazing depending how much you drink.

I've seen Mastadon
need to refresh my memory of them though.

Motorhead is tempting.

The sad truth is that I am skint and will continue to be all year, possibly getting more so when my lodger moves out.

I'm so glad my friend convinced me to listen to 'Crack The Skye'
I saw Mastodon in 2004. They were utterly fucking wank, so I just disregarded them after that. Then I heard CTS, and I'd quite like to see them again now...

I saw them play it at the Roundhouse
it was fantastic.
