When I arrived to look after my daughter she cried 'daddyyy!!!!' and ran and jumped into my arms. This has never happened before and is a major milestone. Three times last night I woke up and found that she'd sneaked into my bed and I had to carry her back through to her own. This is big stuff for me, when you consider that a year ago I am certain my daughter thought I was just one of her mother's friends.
I'm feeling quite emotional about this.

It just felt like a "mate" moment.
In all seriousness, I'm very, very pleased for you. The other night Ms Foxtrot's 2-year-old nephew took my hand and said "come on let's go dancing" as he arrived at the Baby Ballroom class she was teaching and I promptly went a big rubbery one. So I can't imagine how fulfilling and rewarding this must be for you.

At the same age my nephew used to think I was a man. I did have very short hair though. *laughs*

He used to see me naked so I think he was very confused.

that makes it all worthwhile! I get a kid stampede when I get in from work and end up with both of them clinging to me as I struggle into the kitchen
