It just won't boot
It gets to the windows XP screen with the little blue bar running across the bottom, but then won't go any further. It won't boot in safe mode either, it gets as far as loading the mup.sys driver and then hangs.

I've tried taking out a PCI card and disconnecting the second hard drive, but no change.

It's just got beyond the XP screen now and is running CHKDSK
and it's found unreadable 4 segments on the file record.

So i'm guessing my hard drive is fucked and needs replacing. If I can get it to the main screen I can clone the existing drive onto the second drive which is newer. And then buy another drive to act as the second disk.

Doesn't sound good at all, it might be a case of buying a new drive, installing Xp
Then plugging in your knackered one as a slave, just to copy over.

It's jsut got to the end of chkdsk, so I'll see what happens when it tries to start up.
