I think bad food is a very small part of the problem.
If you're not getting the right nutrients then you are tired and will lack concentration at school. This is pointless however, when you aren't bothered about studying in the first place.

My Dad made sure we were always well fed, so while I was always attentive at school, I didn't give a shit. Then, in 6th form I discovered energy drinks, so I was hyper, and didn't give a shit.

That's true.
But if a parent decides to take an interest in a child's schooling and wants them to succeed then that child can reach a certain level. It's all down to the parents innit. Vicious cycle of ignorance and lazyness.
