I don't drink much of it these days
as my tolerance to it has decreased significantly. But the odd bottle is like nectar.

In a Newcastle hospital, many years ago
there used be a ward known as the 'Brown Ale' ward, on account of it being permanently filled with patients who had done themselves irretrievable damage from drinking the stuff.

Also, it is know locally as 'a bottle of dog' because husbands would use the excuse of taking the dog for a walk for going down the pub to sink several bottles.
