I got my new camera this week, very excited, I'm hoping I'll have some time at the weekend to play
I got a Panasonic Lumix LX3 in the end, I'm trying to learn about aspect ratio's, shutter speeds etc at the moment, this is making me feel retarded.

aspect ratio is not important when taking the picture (that's a resizing issue)
shutter speed and aperture are basically how you balance how much light gets in. Long shutter speed lets more light in, short lets less

aperture is the size of the hole that lets the light in - smaller the number the bigger the hole.

Balance them, then you've got a decent picture. Piece of piss

yay!
If you are stuck, just gaz me, but it should be easy if you do a bit at a time. Practise in Aperture priority mode for a bit, then shutter priority then the big one COMPLETE MANUAL - there be dragons
