Not really
Limiting us to Scottish bands wasn't the greatest idea, not a single one of my usual tracks I'd usually suggest is by a scottish band.

No great loss.
Would you like me to wake you up at the end of September?
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:19, Reply)
Nope, you could look at any number of the good tracks I've posted in the other youtube discos.
Monty and I even agreed on several of them!
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:21, Reply)
This is so.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:33, Reply)
Best Scottish band ever is clearly Nazareth.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:19, Reply)
Not difficult, really.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:21, Reply)
You wouldn't think so.
I think the first Jesus & Mary Chain LP is a fucking masterpiece, too. If they'd have split up/died after recording that I'd have them as one of my all time favourites. Instead, they went shit. cf Spacemen 3.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:25, Reply)
Their song on the Crow soundtrack was good
I haven't heard much more by them.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:28, Reply)
'In a Hole' is their best song*.
followed by their cover of Pink Floyd's 'Vegetable Man'

*'God spits on my soul, there's something dead inside my hole'. Chirpy stuff.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:32, Reply)
I might see if they're on Spotify later
Thanks for the recommendations.

JAMC
I believe is the correct answer.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:24, Reply)
Nonsense.
Not a single thing they did after Psychocandy is much cop.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:26, Reply)
Darklands was great.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:27, Reply)
No it wasn't.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:30, Reply)
Yes it was.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 12:24, Reply)
The lead singer of Garbage is Scottish
They therefore have a claim to be Scotland's best band by the same virtue as Metallica are Denmark's finest musical contribution
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:24, Reply)
Primal Scream are fucking fantastic too.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:26, Reply)
In all seriousness Primal Scream are by far my favourite Scottish band
Their ability to reinvent themselves and master different genres is remarkable. All the more so when you consider that they are one of the few bands on earth who could give Lemmy a blood transfusion. I particularly enjoyed the story from Glastonbury '05 when following their set, Bobby Gillespie refused to leave the stage upon being told that Basement Jaxx were headlining.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:30, Reply)
I am missing going to see Primal Scream with the Pub Husband
This has made me immensely sad.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:35, Reply)
Pub husband?
*raging jealousy*
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:38, Reply)
Pub Husband is 43 and unattractive
But we get stupidly excited about the same things, and have little trips and parties to indulge our geeky obsessions. He's the one who took me to Doctor Who Live.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:39, Reply)
Doctor Who Live?
Details please

Morning, by the way. How's the retina?
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:47, Reply)
It. Was. AWESOME.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_Live

Morning darling. The retina is fine, still attatched. Which is kind of annoying, because it means I a) had to go through all that stuff on Tuesday (including them putting various things actually ON my eye *shudders*) for NOTHING and b) still have the annoying symptoms which made me think my retina was detatching in the first place.

How are you?
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:52, Reply)
I'm taking this as good news, I'm afraid
What symptoms have you got? Thanks for linkage

I'm good actually, been exercising more regularly so I no longer need to kick my own ass, and Eric appears to be on the mend. Have steeled myself for the task of driving a minibus full of students to Blackpool tomorrow night by devising an "eclectic" playlist entitled "You fucking drive then"
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:54, Reply)
I keep getting flashes in the corner of one eye
It's not terrible, just a bit annoying.

SO glad to hear Eric is pulling through, that's great. What's on the playlist? (Great title by the way)

I hve horrible and distressing news, which I only realised last night. BB is IN MY HEAD. I did not give permission for this. I ain't happy :(
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:58, Reply)
Big Brother?
If you go onto www.we7.com and search for "you fucking drive then" it'll bring up the playlist, you might need to create an account but it's free. Thank you again for asking after Eric :-)
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 10:20, Reply)
That is a very good playlist
Seems fairly representative too.

No, not Big Brother. Brighton Boy. *sigh*
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 10:23, Reply)
A Captain Beefheart and Neutral Milk Hotel medley

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 10:17, Reply)
I'm gutted - there was one in february, literally a week after I went back to aus.

(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:59, Reply)
That's how I feel about Primal Scream
There is a gig in Leeds which I can't go to because I'm in Brighton, and they're playing Brighton just as I get home. Dammit.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 10:01, Reply)
I have similar tastes in music to Gillespie
but I'd rather listen to his influences than his own output. He drinks in my local sometimes, and looks like a half-drowned rat.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:31, Reply)
Hipsway, surely
The Honeythief is a masterpiece.
(, Thu 3 Mar 2011, 9:26, Reply)
Bollocks is it.
