I was watching a clip from the Daily Show yesterdayshowing certain people insisting that bankers had contracts and these were inviolate and therefore they must get their bonuses, and then these same people saying that teachers must be prepared to compromise and renegotiate their contracts.

That's right. The bonus' are contractual, not discretionary.
If you are the employee then you are going to want to get what you are contractually entitled to. I know I would.
Fucking teachers and nurses, sponging off the honest English (not British) taxpayers.
