Only on quiz shows

(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:08, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
I am not opposed to quiz shows
as you may be aware
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:11, Reply)
the only thing we are aware of
is how much you like it up the wrong 'un.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:12, Reply)
That is absolutely piss poor, especially by your standards
Now go to your room and think about what you've done.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:15, Reply)
I'm deconstructing
it's all post-modern and shit.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:22, Reply)
"Shit" indeed.

(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:23, Reply)
Allow me
deconstructing no longer remotely fussed with making my gay jibes any cop whatsoever

post-modern and

I'm also taking the monty view of strikethroughs
I used to love them (but I had to kill them)
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:27, Reply)
Gah
I was about to say "You are Axl Rose AICMFP" (quite the insult, I think you'll agree) but then I remembered that G'n'R only covered that song... and I can't remember who did the original
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:31, Reply)
I did not know that!

(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:36, Reply)
I only know that because The Spaghetti Incident? was such a disappointing album
that I clung to the knowledge that it wasn't their own work throughout the wilderness years.

I am a huge Guns'n'Roses fan. And I make no apology for this. There, I said it.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:39, Reply)
fair enough
I am as well. Despite being somewhat bored of the song, I still maintain that the guitar solo from Sweet Child is the best ever.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:46, Reply)
I have absolutely no argument with this
The one from Hotel California gets a lot of shouts, but to my mind Slash does a better job on his own than two Eagles ever managed.

I have fond memories of that solo from when I was playing guitar myself. I'd obsessively practiced the whole song for weeks and was thoroughly enjoying playing it. Then I got to the solo and called in some (much more experienced) help to decode it. We got up to a certain point - I think you know where I mean - and he said "no chance mate. Come back in ten years".

Respect.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:59, Reply)
sounds familiar
I kind of gave up learning other peoples solos years ago (unless they are easy). Part of it is getting the right guitar sound for a start, particularly with someone like Slash or Kirk Hammett, which are the sort of ones I'd have been learning.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:12, Reply)
I was never anywhere near your level
I was just happy to pluck away at my £100 guitar without an amp or effects pedals. As such, my pitiful imitation of the start of the Sweet Child solo sounded awesome to me, and I was gutted to learn that the rest of it was inexlicably far beyond my capabilites.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:16, Reply)
I honestly have no idea how good I am
I'm pretty good at some stuff, but not so good at others. I can't help but compare myself to metal guitarists I know and think I don't stack up that well.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:18, Reply)
Harsh comparison
That's like me watching the professionals on Strictly and berating myself for not being as good as someone the same age as me who started learning 20 years earlier
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:24, Reply)
naa, I mean guys I actually know
my style is totally different admittedly (i.e. lazy) and I've come to terms with not being able to play really fucking fast.

I only use one scale really, except on odd occasions.

I'm talking myself down here...I have a really good ear and can pick stuff up annoyingly fast.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:32, Reply)
You sound like exactly the sort of guitarist I wanted to be when I was 17
It took me fucking forever to pick things up and that was the measure by which I gauged my own ability. I had fast fingers but no muscle memory so spent a lot of time going over things you'd probably take for granted. Didn't help that I was listening to a lot of Megadeth and Pantera at the time.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:36, Reply)
my style is a bit too laid back for metal really
probably prog blues-rock is how you'd want to describe it.

I'm happy with that.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:44, Reply)
I don't know what any of those words mean
*grows mullet, rocks out*
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:45, Reply)
haha
I do like rocking out though.

Do you know Clutch? That's the stuff I like to play best really.
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:46, Reply)
I do indeed
Not really my thing, quite like them in short bursts though
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 14:55, Reply)
some of their albums are a bit hit and miss
the last one was a bit shit unfortunately.

The best thing about b3ta is that it introduced me to Clutch and Bigelf
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 15:09, Reply)
THATS THE JOKE
You are the Weakest link...goodbye
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:13, Reply)
I have absolutely not heard that line before
Most notably not from Anne Robinson *smugs*
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:18, Reply)
I never saw the episode unfortunately

(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:19, Reply)
Then you are dead to me

(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:22, Reply)
Did you not upload it to youtube?

(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:23, Reply)
Not as yet
Am not sure if I won't get my legs slapped by the BBC for doing so. Anyway my moment has passed, I'm not so vain as to assume that people still want to see it
(, Wed 13 Apr 2011, 13:26, Reply)
