We had a short exchange on this a couple of weeks ago. Sri Lanka is stunning.

Just take a cushion to sit on if you are touring on a coach/bus. It takes forever to cover even modest distances.

I can't do coach/buses as I get panic attacks so I will be hiring a driver.
More expensive I know but my mum and sis did this and said it better.

Journeys still take forever (I did tours driver stylee) but loads to see out of the window.

TIP: You say where you want to go, absolutely no driver suggested diversions. They might sound like interesting stops but they are ALL shops where the driver is on a kick back. No exceptions.
