I wish there was a way of adequately expressing to expectant parents
that the only ones who give even the tiniest shit about their child are them.

Not entirely true though is it
My wife wanted to keep it quite low key but had complete strangers stop her in the street and ask her "How long to go" and "can I touch your bump?" and when the kids were born it got even worse. I can't go anywhere without some woman (its always women) stopping me and cooing and clucking.
