Sorry to hear that mate. Focus on the league, and all that.
You'll be relieved to hear that my "outfit" is just a black shirt, with a red tie to match the missus' dress, and Latin trousers. Will have to invest in some proper tailored gear at some point, once I've lost some weight and won the lottery

From the pics I've seen you're not exactly a lardarse so I wouldn't worry about that.
We're not doing all that well in the league either to be honest. We've 'won' 2 games out of 5 so far, but 1 of those wins was a forfeit. It also hasn't helped that 2 of the games where we got off to good starts were subsequently abandoned due to the shit weather.
Our match next weekend is away to the 2nd top team in the league, so it could be a bit of an ordeal.

How many teams are in your league?

It doesn't help that our club president/opening bowler had a massive flounce after the game yesterday. He's resigned and said that he's not coming back. All because our scorer marked the book in accordance with the umpires signals. Crazy stuff. The umpire signalled 4 runs, which the scorer marked against the bowler, but apparently the batsman didn't touch it, so it should have been 4 byes. Totally pathetic. The scorer is not permitted to question the umpire's signals.
There are 12 teams in our division. 2 go up and 2 go down. Thankfully 1 team is almost certainly guaranteed to go down as their whole club has been punished for non-payment of fees. All of their teams have had to forfeit all their matches in the first half of the season, which is a blessing.

Your CLUB PRESIDENT has flounced because his average is going to be slightly worse than he believes it should be?
(, Mon 13 Jun 2011, 12:16, Reply)
He bowled 6 overs, 0 wickets for 11 runs, but he insists that it should have been 0 wickets for 7 runs. For fuck's sake.
And muggins here is vice-president, so I now appear to be driving the bus.
I've texted him back telling him to take a few days to think it over, and that I really don't think it's worth resigning over. What a tit though.

He should be more concerned with the "0 wickets" part. I say you take over and flood the team with more friends and family members.

Then the overweight, sluggish skipper came on lobbing his hand grenades, and took 3 wickets. This might also have contributed to the flounce I suppose.
Frankly I'm running out of GFs and family members to play. My daughter knocked me back last week - what more can I do?

and I'm too scared to ask.

Surely you should have known that the day would come when you'd need to breed your own seam attack.

No seriously though, 2 sprogs is more than enough. Any more than that is sheer lunacy.

He said he wants more, and that "dealing with two kids is the same as dealing with one". As one of the proud Childless Men of B3ta, I'm ill-poised to suggest otherwise, but this sounded very much like total bullshit to me

I don't know anyone amongst my IRL friends who hasn't been utterly destroyed during the first 6-12 months of having a newborn, so this attitude seemed most peculiar.
