Body Horror.
I usually tan quite well, however after 5 hours of suncream-less cycling ,i appear to have developed forearms with second degree burns.
Whats the worst thing to happen to your body, or that of someone else you know. Whats the worst illness, the most disgusting accident you've ever had? Nails through feet, eyeballs falling out, mild ebola, pregnancy, etc.

and I was only saying yesterday night it's a shame you seemed to have sodded off.
I wonder if whoever's sock puppet you are heard me and decided to bring you back.

to answer the question: I trod on a sewing needle sticking out of the carpet and it went in between my big toe and the next one and 2 inches of it snapped off in my foot, had to go to casualty and have it cut out.

what bike you got lad?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 19:45, Reply)

An Apollo Phaze. From Halfords.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 19:46, Reply)
Well we all have to start somewhere
glad it's serving you well.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 19:50, Reply)
Oh dear.
Has it tried to kill you yet?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:00, Reply)
It's so fast that the friction with the air set fire to his forearms
I wish my bike was that cool.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:02, Reply)
*whisper* it's an apollo
;)
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:03, Reply)
*even quieter whisper*
that's the joke
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:05, Reply)
*quieter still*
Of course. I knew that. Ahem.
*blushes*
Heehee!

S'OK
are you a cyclist too then or have the awesome rep of Halford's Finest spread to the wider world?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:08, Reply)
Cyclist
And my ex bought me an apollo after I'd been looking at Giant and Marin. I now have a Marin Rocksprings but I've also worked my way through a Specialized and a Merlin. I've always had bikes but it's only since I've know PJM that they've been any good!
The Apollo really was evil though and almost put me off cycling for life.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:16, Reply)
yes, this is the danger
cheap and cheerful is all good but I do wish people would buy something second-hand and do it up a bit rather than spend 100s on BSOs and get a worse ride for the same money.

None of my bikes cost more that £50 originally but all run well because I re-built/modified them that way, and because the were good bikes when new.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:24, Reply)
My specialized cost me £70 secondhand
Still got it and it's probably worth far, far more now with all the upgrades PJM has put on it! I love it but it's actually too small for me - good for building up my confidence though.
Second hand is definitely the way to go with a first or second bike rather than splurging and discovering it's wrong or you don't like it!
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:32, Reply)
oh hell yeah
as is building/re-building your own, but that's a steeper learning curve. Mine are all, pretty old, I think the newest is a mid 1980's Dawes.

We should form a B3ta cycling club and all mock each other's bikes
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:45, Reply)
I think we're all mocking Al's gay bike
There's quite a few bikers on here. Humpty has a downhill tandem, but he's quite, quite mad :)
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:50, Reply)
I think downhill tandem and mad are synonymous
I've always thought tandem = relationship death my self. Noel cycles apparently.

don't tell anyone but I quite like Al's bike
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:54, Reply)
GAY!
;)
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 22:56, Reply)
I have been told I'm quite in touch with my feminine side it's true
but usually by people I'm sleeping with at the time, so I tend to take it as a compliment. :)
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 23:00, Reply)
Being in touch with your feminine side is fine
Liking Al's gay bike is quite another thing. Next you'll be wearing lycra and rubbing cream into your nether regions.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 23:02, Reply)
Nope
I may have a sneaking liking for the bike, but lycra is gay, never mind nether-region-cream.

As far as the feminine side goes I just take it to mean I'm not a total shitcunt and admit to having emotions and liking a bit of a cuddle sometimes, if this is special I despair for the male gender frankly.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 23:08, Reply)
Oh man, the other thread was basically dead so I'll ask here
Whose evil twin are you?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 21:15, Reply)
me?
Or Tory Boy?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 21:47, Reply)

(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 21:51, Reply)
Yes, gotcha, saw the question in the other thread
and replied there, shall we pick on place for this conversation or alternate between threads?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2011, 21:53, Reply)
I thought you were dead.
Shame.
