Embrace your mid life crisis.

Oh, I have no plans on actually having a mid-life crisis
but I can imagine fourteen-year old me looking at a 35-year old guy with a new tongue piercing and thinking "He's desperately trying to hold on to his youth".

Why I give a fuck what people think is a whole different issue entirely.

As above no one needs to see it unless you want them too.

There are two people who I specifically care what they think.
I guess I should ask them.

Good idea.
And then totally ignore them and do what YOU want.

similar problem
I keep wanting to dye red streaks in my hair, get more piercings and a tattoo, but I suspect it's just a reaction to having a grown up job

Hey, you're on summer holidays at the moment, you can do what you like.
Schools out! Live life to the full! I have a friend who I was in class at school with for a few years, she's on her ninth tattoo and she's just had her tongue pierced. I see it as her kind of defining who she is. Alternatively, daughter's mother has covered herself in tattoos and piercings over the past three years and I definitely see that as a mid-life crisis. Mind you, her whole life's been a crisis so I don't know what's new there.
Fuck it, maybe I'll just do it when kiddo gets her ears pierced again and be done with it.

perhaps so
but I have an interview to actually get the job I've been doing for 1 1/2 years in a couple of weeks. Perhaps I should wait until after that.
technically, right now, I'm doley scum. Although I having been arsed to sign on, yet

Wear earphones and pump cheery happy music into your skull while in and around the job centre.
It's the only way.

Plan for ~3 days of talking like a spazmoid
And then another week of no solid food.

Indeed, I work on the phone so it'll have to be a Friday.
I'm still unsure. I'll see what the kid and the missus think, then probably get it anyway.

My mate got his done when I did
and went back to work on the phone on monday. As I recall the line he was practicing was "Microsoft Access Support, May I help you", which is not the easiest with a swollen tongue, but he got by fine.
