About as convincing as Dick Van fucking Dyke. Albarn and James are prize cunts as well.
Oasis did one good song. Blur did poncy fakery for cuntstains in tight adidas t shirts.
YOU WEREN'T THERE MAN.

When they ripped off Pavement and Spiritualized it was fucking cringey. That Tender song was a direct ripoff of Spiritualized.
Utter toss. Genre tourists and patronising "let's play at being working class! Let's go dahn the dogs, innit?" wankers.

Just drawing attention to their genre tourism and how fucking awful it was when they dabbled in lo fi and, well, trying to sound like Spiritualized. You have to remember just how fucking immense Spiritualized were back then, and only then will you realise that Tender is to Ladies & Gentlemen...what the Gobots were to Transformers.

Then again, I love Primal Scream. They are not genre tourists, they have reinvented themselves on the cutting edge at every point. Up until XTRMNTR. Slow decline since then.

Seems to drone on. Apart from that one where the bird goes on a bender in the video, and someone smashed a bottle on her head and she laughs.

Loaded is depressing? Kowalski drones on? Kill All Hippies is dull?
Well well.

Blur doing Pavement in the Stars in Their Eyes style was just a fucking travesty.
What the fuck was that idiotic WOO HOO thing anyway?
Quenders.

I think they're as bemused as everyone else as to how it got so popular.
(, Wed 27 Jul 2011, 23:21, Reply)
Your're picking the Blur stuff I like the least anyway so I'm not arsed. I could ask you what you thought of a particular song they did which depicted middle-class life, was before their 'lo-fi' thing, didn't impersonate Holy bleeding Spiritualized or Pavement and you'd still go "YES IT'S PRETENDING TO BE WORKING CLASS AND IT'S AN AFFRONT, YES AN AFFRONT, TO STEVEN MALKMUS. GENRE TOURISM AT ITS WORST".
I hate Damon Albarn but I think you're tarring all of their music with the same well-researsed brush that you appear to have drilled into your brain. Which is fine. If James Blunt releasd something amazing tomorrow, I would still call him a cunt and say it was shit. I guess we all do that.

I always felt sorry for him having to pimp out his skills for the latest sub-Charlatans/ sub-Kinks/ sub-Pavement/ sub-Spiritualized guff that poshboy Albarn dreamed up becuase it's a frightful fucking wheeze old boy.

I love the way he messes about with a guitar.

Only because he did EXACTLY what I'd do if I was in a famous band.

Anyone who wouldn't do what he did in his position is a woofter. A boring woofter not worth knowing.

I have to hand it to them, they turned out a few good songs, particularly after they stopped hamming it up with their entirely unconvincing Essex-wide-boy act.

I am yet to out-snob Mr Boyce in the music stakes though.

They made great music and changed their direction with each album. Ignore Parklife as that was pretty shit, though.
