Around the time of britpop I was doing my a-levels.
I was always about three steps to the side and one back from any current music scene (until I got into house music and followed djs like Alistair Whitehead, Graeme Park and John Digweed around clubs in the midlands). I usually had the greatest hits of various early eighties bands in my walkman.
The one album that does define that time for me though is Parklife. It was one of those albums that got passed around and played at loads of parties and in the common room so it always takes me back to that time. There are some great tracks on there that hold up for me outside of the nostalgic context.
Alt: Any time that involved wenches, good helmets/wigs and quaffing

They sell Mead In borough Market
I found it at the weekend, they want £9 a bottle the thieving toe-rags, but it is my favourite brand so will buy it when I get desperate.

probably like the christmas ones they do round here
the dry ones are more the kind of thing you can drink lots of. It's got enough sugar in it to make everything hilarious, though.
I have never seen my parents drunk but at my wedding my dad slurred "..thish mead shtuff ish quite schtrong" and got mixed up between my mum and her twin sister.

First day at school is always scary
..but getting there in the first place is awesome. well done.
I was facing redundancy about four months back but managed to get a better payed job closer to home after the first interview I hooked. Prior to that it was the scariest time in my life thus far, the thought of not being able to provide for my wife and kids and keep a roof over our heads was terrifying.

ah, I'm just being a dumbass
I've been doing the job for a year and a half, I'm more scared because it's the thing I want and I'm not used to that happening. I have no idea how to deal with it. Also first full time permanent job in 10 years - there's no quick get out here.
as I said, I'm being a twat about it, it's awesome really
