So, today marks the second attempt to get this sodding green out of my hair.
Wish me luck, bitches. At this rate, I won't even be that gutted if it all snaps off from over bleaching.

Tell me about your "Well it seemed like a good idea at the time" moments. To follow on from Monty - no whining, just amusing anecdotes.

Edit: Just thought of an Alt Q. I saw the actual Magna Carta yesterday, what awesome pieces of history have you seen?

Can you do the old joke?
Why's your hair green etc
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:12, Reply)
Har har.
I've not had that one yet actually.
Just small children staring at me.

As long as they don't throw rocks I suppose.

Apple
What did you do to your hair?
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:13, Reply)
I dyed it blue in celebration of getting an industrial placement.
It looked great! But now my placement starts in 5 days and it's now green and won't go away.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:15, Reply)
can you get a salon to strip the colour?

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:16, Reply)
I don't have that kind of money at the moment.

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:17, Reply)
and bleaching and dying haven't helped?

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:18, Reply)
Just tried bleaching so far
Dying it brown will be a last resort.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:19, Reply)
if it's too green
Or it has a green hue. Consider putting a dark reddis brown on it.

That normally does the job.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:20, Reply)
Ooh, I shall keep that in mind.

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:20, Reply)
burn it off with a lighter then

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:19, Reply)
My mum wanted to shave it

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:20, Reply)
Have you got a nice-shaped head?

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:23, Reply)
I'm clicking this for some out of context weirdness

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:24, Reply)
I like your thinking

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:31, Reply)
I dyed my hair bright red at uni
that was misguided. It went pink for a long time. Longer than it was red.

I also tried to dye it blue, and it ended up looking green for 2 days, gery for 2 days and then back to normal...
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:13, Reply)
I went "Ice White" which apparently means ginger.

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:14, Reply)
I bleached mine before the red
should have kept it like that I think.

I got called salmon-head for quite a while because of the stupid pinkness
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:15, Reply)
Everything means ginger if you're not careful

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:19, Reply)
I dyed mine black at school.
I was sent to my year head because it made me look like I was 'on something'.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:23, Reply)
Which one?
There are four copies left
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:22, Reply)
Sailsbury Cathedral

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:23, Reply)
I once shagged a girl on the magna carta memorial in Runnymede.
Good times. I should be banged up like Charlie Gilmore
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:26, Reply)
I've dyed my hair tonnes of colours
To get rid I've with died purple over the top as it works on blues greens pinks and reds. Other wise dark brown over the top always works.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:24, Reply)
The only problem is, I didn't do it all blue.
So whatever I cover it u with has to work with my natural dark blonde.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:25, Reply)
Why not go brunette all over?
Would suit you and cover everything
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:27, Reply)

With the glaring exception of Croydon airport.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:58, Reply)
I have yet to enjoy its mysterious charms.

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:00, Reply)
It's actually kind of interesting if you're into the architecture of the period.
Otherwise, it's just an airport.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:02, Reply)
I'm not in the least bit interested in it.

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:03, Reply)

In the Guggenheim in Venice
I was so awe struck at standing inches away from a Magritte painting, it was all I could do to stop myself from stroking it.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 12:48, Reply)
I was similarly impressed by seeing Hogarth's 'Rake's Progress' series at the John Soane Museum.
The painting room is amazing in there - although the place overall I found claustrophobic and a little unpleasant.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:02, Reply)
I've been to lots of galleries and areas of historical interest
but I only included that example because it's the closest I've felt to the enormity of the artifact. Usually I don't get taken that way.

I absolutely love churches and cathedrals though. Like, disproportionately love them.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:06, Reply)
Let a useless, feckless waste of space move in with me
He lost his job after not bothering to turn up, nor phone in one day, despite having his probation period there extended the week before. He lasted another 3 months before I kicked him out, 1 month before I left.

That was a fucking mistake, I can tell you.

Also, I've dyed my hair red, black-red, blue, black-blue, blond, black and purple. I enjoyed having them at the time, but my hair was so knackered afterwards, I don't dare dye it again.

Alt: Book of Kells, Rosetta Stone, Elgin Marbles, Michelangelo's David, etc.
