If the Sun was to disappear, we would still feel it's heat, and see it's light for 8 minutes afterwards. However, more oddly, the Earth would continue to orbit it for the same time period too.

The earth would keep orbiting a non existant sun for 8 minutes?

I wonder how different a trajectory it would be to just travelling off in a straight line

We've done this one before I seem to remember.

Gravity is a field, like magnetism
I guess it takes a while for it to reach us.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 15:32, Reply)
No, gravity is the attraction between two masses
it's not an actual thing like light or e/m radiation.

It only exists where two masses are near each other.

You're a mass.

heat and light - boring
gravity - confusing. i can only assume gravity "moves" at the speed of light
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 15:29, Reply)
I don't think that's true
it flies in the face of all logic.

i am speculating on AA's post, i really have no idea...
