Last night I watched a bio doc on Bill Hicks then a live show of his.
My opinion of the chap remains unaltered – clever, witty, said things I agree with and that people needed to hear, but wasn’t actually very funny. I admire him a lot but no laughs from an hour show means thumbs down from me on the actual LOLing.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:17, 6 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
I watched all that stuff.
I think we've all heard Bill Hicks so many times, and then we've had everyone ripping him off for maybe the last twenty years, so it's just not new any more.
I bet you lol'ed the first time though, and I bet if here was here now he'd have stuff to make you lol with.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:19, Reply)
Nope, never lolled once.
I try things again every now and then to see if I made an error first time around: in this case I felt the same.

Goat Boy was dreadful

(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:22, Reply)
I agree wholeheartedly.

(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:23, Reply)
yeah, that routine spoiled it for me.
I agree with Monty. I think the man was great, but not actually all that funny.

Could be because he is an American. Although Eddie Murphy's old stand up stuff was fucking hilarious in places.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:24, Reply)
Absolutely - and Richard Pryor was genuinely hysterical.

(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:26, Reply)
The only good thing that Murphy has done since Trading Places
has been providing the voice of an annoying donkey.

All bollocks in my humble opinion.
Tried them, gave up.

(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:39, Reply)
I actually didn't like Bill Hicks that much. Or George Carlin.
I believe this makes me 'wrong'.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:22, Reply)
I'm going to put my hand up here
and say that I don't think I've ever heard anything he's done, ever. I do not feel as though I am missing out though.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:22, Reply)
Plus, I get the impression that he's no Norman Wisdom.

(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:22, Reply)
You!
I have to tell you that I absolutely loved your birthday/xmas/easter egg comment in the last thread. It's a point I've been making for years, as my birthday is in December and DJ's is near easter.

I would like to suscribe to your newsletter.

And with that, I'm off. See you all later.

I preferred my Brian Cant quip, but thanks :)

I found him to be repetative
I have seen loads of his shows and they were all the same. That said I liked them, he was very clever and I agreed with everything he said. I just found it all a bit samey. He was still about a million times better than Dennis Leary though.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:20, Reply)
and the cunt ripped off Denis Leary

(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:20, Reply)
This made me do more of a LOL than watching the documentary
I'm with Monty on Le Hicks

I prefer cheeky skipping comic Micheal Macintyre

I will do so tomorrow
I haven't felt up to it so far.

The canal is a pretty long walk from here though.

as she had mumps. i was positive I'd had it as a youngster and was immune...i didn't have it as a youngster :s

nasty
I feel like it would have been useful for my mum to share with me that they were never sure if I'd had it or not.

Turns out it was when we were on holiday, and I had some kind of rash thing for a couple of days...

That'll be a no then mother, thanks.

His wife's just had a baby.
She's either still very sore downstairs, or he's given up as it's like throwing a chip up the Champs Elysees.

I don't think either of us are serious enough about things to have a feud
I'm disappointed recently that some on here appear to have taken some things I've said seriously.
(, Thu 1 Sep 2011, 16:49, Reply)
I was going to post something similar
but then I thought I'd better give you a chance at least once today.
