Its difficult to really get a handle on this post without knowing what you meant by 'Democracy'
This has the smell of 'its the opposite of dictatorship' all over it at the moment.

You should come to Monty's bash on the 1st.

I've signed up on the Calendar
I was mostly persuaded by the fact that you were going.
We can play autistic spectrum bingo or something.
You'll be buying my drinks though. Your treat.

I'll buy you a pint and that's it. I think I'll be leaving fairly early but should be there until at least 10-10:30

I would say, government by the people
in it's strictest sense, commonly interpreted as majority rule. One could argue that few (possibly no) modern 'democracies' are actually this, but they do contain some element of it and some (possibly specious) aspiration towards it.

The fact that "democracy" is often not particularly democratic is another annoyance.

people are stupid and should not be allowed to have a say in running the country

While I do not fully endorse this
I will say that the majority is, if not always, often and notably wrong about all kinds of stuff, and the only reason I can think of that they should be allowed to run a country is that the alternative is worse, which it is.

I just don't think we should get all self congratulatory about it, like it's some kind of panacea for all the world ills.
