If you want to drink cheaply in London
Find the nearest Samuel Smiths pub. Their prices remain the same across all their pubs, whether they are in York or London - £1.56 for a pint of best last time I was in one.
Their "thing" is not stocking any major brands though, only their own (pretty decent) beer. So don't go if you are planning on drinking Fosters or Guinness. You will probably find their lager and stout nicer than either of those anyway.

Unless you plan to purchase two pints of Fosters, position them opposite each other on a table and surround them with 11 pints of Carling and make sledging noises.
