I'm up!
Yet another day of sending CV's off to companies. Just waiting for a reply from my solicitor re the legality of my impending redundancy.

My we're a happy bunch today!

And, for those of you who were good enough to offer assistance yesterday, I've plumped for a Battlestar Galactica backdrop.

Hi Darth!
How was the Derby match the Newcastle match er, London? I'm there for 24hrs in Novemeber and I'm planning how much I can fit in that I haven't done already.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 8:50, Reply)
*shakes fist (if indeed it is a fist)*
London was fantastic thank you Bill. I would recommend Kew Gardens, possibly not if you only have 24hrs and don't want to lose time travelling though. Go and see Wicked, it's amazing, as are Legally Blonde and War Horse. Don't go looking for a card shop on Oxford Street though, there isn't one. And that whole bike hire/drop-off thing is a massive con.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 8:56, Reply)
My eldest son and I are going to a gig in the evening..
..and planning a Monopoly Shot Crawl (cheaper than a pub crawl, plus it's a Sunday), so depending on how long that takes us it'll probably just be generic sightseeing stuff. The only time I need to fill is the post-gig time until the train home at 10am Monday morning. Fabric might do a club night that finishes at 6am which would do nicely but they don't have the listings up for November yet.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:03, Reply)
Who are you going to see?

(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:04, Reply)
Sisters of Mercy at the Roundhouse in Camden
EDIT: How is the fantasy football going? I think I was on minus points last weekend until the two Manchester matches where I had Rooney, Nani and Aguero. I'm at a respectable 24th in the league now.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:12, Reply)
Nice!
Last week wasn't too good, I'm now in 48th, but only 22 points behind you.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:20, Reply)
I would suggest the Ice Bar, somewhere we failed to find time for
but I think they're only open late on a Saturday. Sadly we were almost always in bed by midnight. Sorry.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:06, Reply)
That sounds pretty cool but it's £16pp for 40 minutes in there
We were going more for 'London on a pittance'
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:14, Reply)
Ah
Probably best not to go see Wicked then. Or to go to the opera - our tickets were £37 a head and they were bloody miles away from the stage
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:19, Reply)
My Opera tickets were more like £100, and it was hot and boring

If you want to drink cheaply in London
Find the nearest Samuel Smiths pub. Their prices remain the same across all their pubs, whether they are in York or London - £1.56 for a pint of best last time I was in one.
Their "thing" is not stocking any major brands though, only their own (pretty decent) beer. So don't go if you are planning on drinking Fosters or Guinness. You will probably find their lager and stout nicer than either of those anyway.
(, Wed 21 Sep 2011, 9:27, Reply)
If you go to a pub in London with the intention of drinking Fosters then you are an idiot anyway
Unless you plan to purchase two pints of Fosters, position them opposite each other on a table and surround them with 11 pints of Carling and make sledging noises.

Orange has a tendency to block it from time to time, a quick phone reset and it's sorted.

Also, I'd probably blame CHCB.

I hardly know CHCB, seems unfair to apportion blame
I probably could get it taken off but my bill/battery/ability to maintain a social life would suffer dramatically.

Can you enlighten me as I don’t ‘socially network’ via the internet
What’s the deal with having several hundred people who you’d barely have a nodding acquaintance with in the street listed as ‘friends’ with who you share all of your life’s tribulations and victories with online? Call it oldskool but I prefer people not knowing my business good bad or indifferent.

In the deep, dark habitat where Sportscow lives, potential mates are few and far between.

"We suggest that same-sex mating behaviour by Sportscow is part of a reproductive strategy that maximises success by inducing males to indiscriminately and swiftly inseminate everybody that they encounter."

The Conservative party is not racist, needless to say as it is England's Majority party, UKIP is not racist (Farage's wife is German, Marta Andreason is an Argentine), and the LibDem right wing is damn well not racist(though it is gay).
The European right and Anglosphere right is not racist. Fascism has about as much to do with conservatism and libertarianism as being an Anarcho-communist does. Fascism is defined as a radical authoritarian nationalist ideology. Already in the first two words it has contradicted the aims of the right, and in the third the aims of capitalism.
Every fascist movement in history has grown out of the left and got most of its support from working class anti-globalization left wingers.
There was a poll a while back. 80% of BNP supporters come from a Labour voting background.
As far as I am concerned that is the end of the matter.
