Who are the "up their own arse" Apple users going to idollise now?

I'm going to punch them in the face.

I am going to have to keep my mouth shut today or I'll find myself a social pariah.

it's a shame he's died like, but I really don't get the fuckwittery and fanboyism that goes with apple products.

and designed to look pretty.
So I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to shift my fanboyism to the creator of Fisherprice toys.

- He created the 'app' industry, which handed out $3b over 4 years to thousands of developers.
- He changed the entire ethos of how software is distributed and purchased, going from a model of basic retail to a single store (where anyone is allowed to sale) and making the product affordable.
- Love or hate the iPod, the iPod has done the same as Hover and become a generic name for "MP3 Player", and it was invented by teams that Steve Jobs lead.
- iTunes created a buisness model where most artists can sale, no longer are the days where shops are battling for retail space. There are plenty of music bands who would have flopped without iTunes due to never getting on shops, I can't think of too many examples, but Dan Le Sac v Scroobius Pip and Nizlopi come to mind.
- They inovated and changed the design of the 'PC', they went from a gray box to a sleek white one, single-piece aliminumum frames, backlit keyboards and so much more.
- They were the first to dump the Floppy Drive, they were the first to standardise the CD and DVD, first to standardise USB, Firwire and Thunderbolt (when that does happen).
- Innovated "Multi touch" which will change the face of how we use computers over the next 5 years.
And that's just what I can think of from the top of my head.

and not because of having label backing.
Nizlopi sold a hell of a lot of one single because of massive coverage on Radio 1, their album didn't sell as well, because, frankly it was shit, and after that they sank without trace.

I wouldn't say Radio One did it, more the youtube video with the hand-drawn animation. They wouldn't have gone to retail without it though, probably, maybe.
I can't think of any examples off-hand, but it bipasses a lot of the production expenses and therefore allows the song/album to go to market without that initial investment, thus it's not so much a risk for anyone.

And hardly anyone makes significant money of actual music sales these days, it's all merchandising and concert ticket sales, even with massive bands like say, Iron Maiden, you might not like them, but they have shifted millions of albums. If they stopped doing tours they wouldn't sell any T-Shirts and they wouldn't make any money.
Not that I reckon they actually need to keep doing it if they didn't want to, but a new band doesn't have that luxury.

Agree with the first part, but I'm not sure how taking a device already on the market, making it look pretty and naming it something else is considered 'inventing'.
