I'm not sure I can play youtube disco with either of you :(
you'll denounce me for my taste in britpop.

I love Suede
and I'll try most genres with a couple of obvious exceptions

Britpop?
Shitpop more like. At that time, the best stuff was coming out of Scotland. Mogwai, Aerogramme, Arab Strap, Slam, that whole Chemikal Underground scene...

As I remember Mogwai saying about Blur and their fans- cunts in tight Adidas t shirts.

The Dozist concurs.

I like Mogwai
ditto Air, Sigur Ros, Nightmares on Wax etc.

But I also like Britpop.

Ooh Nightmares on Wax.
Smokers Delight = classic. One of the least Warp records during Warp's golden years.

Try plaid, boards of Canada , mum, and godspeed you black emperor

(, Fri 7 Oct 2011, 22:14, Reply)
I have some Boards of Canada, also Godspeed you back emperor
Boards of Canada are alright, although have to be in the mood for, GYBE less so.

I love Plaid as well.
I was obsessed with Warp for a long time. Autechre's early work is a must hear as well.

I'm impressed Bobby.

Warp = ace

Some friends of mine make very warpesque stuff that has been released.
Warp hit their peak around 2002 though. But Aphex, Squarepusher, Plone, Plaid, BoC, Two Lone Swordsmen, Red Snapper, Autechre, NoW, Sabres of Paradise...only Mo Wax come close.
(, Fri 7 Oct 2011, 22:23, Reply)
Not familiar with Mo Wax really
Didn't like Two Lone Swordsman, but Aphex Twin, Autechre, B12, Plaid and the like are good
(, Fri 7 Oct 2011, 22:27, Reply)
Two Lone Swordsmen's stuff up to Tiny Reminders is sterling electro.
From the Double Gone Chapel and onward is post punk. You've gotta love Weatherall though, regardless.

Mogwai were the soundtrack to my late teens

Moi aussi.
I remember when Come On Die Young came out. I remember loving it deeply and being astounded by the mixed reaction to it.

I still stand by my view that it is Mogwai at their finest- it took what they were doing with single tracks and translated it to the album context. Breathtaking maturity for a bunch of 21 year old metalheads.

That whole section from May Nothing But Happiness...through to Xmas Steps. Unbeatable.

I preferred Mr Beast.

Mental.
How come? Are you sure? Have you listened to CODY?
(, Fri 7 Oct 2011, 22:20, Reply)
It's a close second
but I heart Friends of the Night and Auto Rock so very, very much.
(, Fri 7 Oct 2011, 22:22, Reply)
Meh.
I rushed into Cardiff to get Rock Action when it came out, got home and was devastated. Of the recent stuff, I loved Zidane and liked The Hawk is Howling. They've been dull for a fair few years now.
