I find it hilarious when men do that. It's like they automatically equate cufflinks with dressing proper. It's also like when people misuse reflexive pronouns, they think it sounds good but just makes them sound thick.

I have hated this habit for years. It appears to be a growing problem too.
Now I can say to people "please do not use a misused reflexive pronoun when addressing me". Ta for that.
