i also
but I only know what I read in Iain Banks' book
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:28, Reply)
I thought you might be.
I'm about to have a smallish Jack Daniels. I may put something in it. Something that isn't ice.
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:28, Reply)
a tiny bit of water

(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:29, Reply)
The only water acceptable with whisky is a soft water, for instance a bottled Highland Spring.
Any heavier minerals in the water will play havoc with the balance of the flavours.

That also includes using it in ice cubes.

Philistines.

The only thing to add to good whiskey is more whiskey.
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:34, Reply)
^ this
Though this is spoken from the viewpoint of someone who doesn't really include Jack Daniels in whisky
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:32, Reply)
Jack Daniels? A mixer?
Why did you ask for a connoisseur if you are going to have a pleb's drink?
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:30, Reply)
And I'm going to LIKE it

(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:31, Reply)
Haha see post above

(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:33, Reply)
Better be on a white plate
Harsh colours can play havoc with the balance of the flavours.
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:35, Reply)
Que?
One tastes with one's tongue, not one's eyes.

Though the first bite is of course with the eye, in every situation.

(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:32, Reply)
Bourbon is a type of whisky.
But a distinct type.
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:35, Reply)
Isn't the Malt-Bourbon relationship
akin to the Cognac-Brandy one?
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:36, Reply)
Kind of.
More like lager/ beer.

The Irish make great whiskey
They even put cream in some of it. Best whiskey ever.

Hey, you should do that with these whiskies you like, that'd be well lush. All your Famous Grouses and whatnot.
(, Thu 20 Oct 2011, 22:42, Reply)
If you have to add cream to it, you are a quender.

Auto-complete on a phone. Meh, either way it's an anglicised version of a Gaelic word.
Insisting on your own spelling won't make up for being colonised.
