Of course, likewise some of the scary things I've seen and done
but I don't have panic attacks on the train about it.

In fact now that I think about it, I actually don't really know what a panic attack is.

Hope this helps.

Is it like an adrenaline rush?

Some of the symptoms are quite similar according to wikipedia
Interestingly the article also says:

" A growing body of evidence supports the idea that those that suffer from panic attacks engage in a passive style of communication or interactions with others"

like doing all your social interaction through a website?

Maybe we should link this thread to the scientists so they can add it to their growing body of evidence.

I've only had the one, I was utterly convinced I was dying.
That's a bit of a sweeping statement that. You and I both know mental health issues aren't as clear cut as that.

I thought it was a pretty even-handed statement actually
I haven't suggested that this is true, or that it accounts for all cases of people having panic attacks.

I just pointed out that some people think there might be a correlation between having these things and being an internet shut-in.

The article seems to imply that they normally have a stand-alone clinical source which could be a wide-range of things and concludes "panic attacks are not usually indicative of a mental disorder." so I'm not sure this is a mental health issue really.
