There was a woman on the Today programme (I think her name is Cindy Butts)
Who was just saying that the detective team covering the Lawrence murder should remain in place for months, if not years, despite the fact they don't have anything to do any more, because to disband them is "hugely insensitive".

As an honest, hard working tax payer I think having a bunch of detectives sitting around with nothing to do is far more insensitive to the state of the country as a whole.

What do people think?

I say FUCK THA PO-LICE.

They're part of the met's murder investigation team in general
and they're actually reducing the size of the whole team, ie the team investigating other murders as well. Their reasoning is that murders have dropped, and also hey're responding to cuts.
The Lawrence case is still unsolved in that known 'participants' are at large, and it does seem a bit odd really to go "well we caught some of them, now stop killing each other because we're downsizing. Trah."

I wish people still said 'Free suchabody'
instead of 'Justice 4'. You can't make '...with every box of Cornflakes' jokes anymore.

She didn't put forth a single one of these arguments
she simply got her knickers in a twist about how the met police owed londoners for their previous mistakes.

As to the fact that other suspects haven't been convicted, that's because of a lack of evidence, and no new evidence has been produced at the moment so there is no way they can be charged yet. Hopefully this may change if someone comes forward, but it might not.

If it does, I'm sure they'll respond.
And the only reason that had to dedicate so much to it this time is because they fucked up royally, so they're a victim of their own... contrition, for want of a better word.
They could have worded it better and then this woman would have had nowt to moan about. She'd have been non-the-wiser.
Shit PR if you ask me.

I love the logic behind that "Right, ok, we've solved most of the murders now, we can all go home early, you'll get there in time to watch Jezza on +1 if you leave now".

If there's no more evidence, the team needs to be disbanded.
I think that everyone involved is hoping for one of the two already sentenced to turn snitch, which will drop the others in it.

I think, from the small number of police officers I have known, that being insensitive is a natural state of mind for them.
Probably a sweeping generalisation, but I've never been dealt with by a cop sensitive to my needs.
