On the basis of cause and effect, alcohol should definitely be banned.
Do you have someone in your family or a close friend that has had a drug problem?

Yes it should, but it won't. It's too entrenched in our culture.
Nope. I don't know anybody with a drug *problem*, as such. I don't particularly enjoy being around people who are on drugs in much the same way as most sober people don't enjoy being around drunk people.

I am not even attempting to form a cogent argument here, because there isn't one. Whilst most people are like me and don't approve of drug use, the law won't change. Sorry.

Drugs are like Marmite.
You either love them or hate them.

Not after a cogent argument.
I have found people who just dislike drugs, as drugs, have a negative experience of them.

Being around people who are hammered (on whatever) is rubbish if you're not.

Oh, well, I had a bad episode myself once
but I dealt with that by not taking them anymore. I'm not suggesting that everybody that doesn't approve has had a negative experience though. Just that most people don't and the Government plays the numbers game.

Spot on.
Never happen if it loses even a small number of votes.

Silly thing is that all illegal substances have been legal in the past and were made illegal in times when science was shit or the church had some input. Or something.

Can't think of anyone , no.
