Alt: morals, but if I could selectively withhold the bits going to stuff I don't want I would, or better still reallocate it to other things. I wonder if you could have a workable system where you had to pay a certain amount but you had a choice over where it went.

Most of my tax would go to the welfare state, including benefits. Bugger all to the armed forces mind, but I reckon enough people would emphasis that, that we'd still have an army of some kind.
