Depends on the state of the plaster.
If it's too chipped or cracked, you might want to skim it first. In which case, you'd have to leave it for a couple of weeks afterwards to thoroughly dry.

Look up Chem-Dry though
They're franchises but Chem-Dry have very strict control of franchisees - something like 3 complaints and you're out.

They've never let me down.
