I'm going to Northumbria, Edinurgh, hopefully New York and Yorkshire.
Although what on earth possessed me to think spending the first week of April in Northumbria was a good idea, I am not sure. I don't like cold and wet.

You'd be surprised, Scarpo.
Yesterday it was a balmy 5 degrees up here, and no snow whatsoever. Today is much the same.

Better than down here at the moment then.
I'm actually really looking forward to it. Can't wait to go walking along the coast for a start.

It was bastard freezing on Saturday night though
Proper "AYAAAAAAHHHHHH" wind
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:35, Reply)
Oh hell yeah.
We were at a gig in Bebside (Star Spangled Chest Wigs - if you ever get a chance to see them, do; they're fucking brilliant). It's fair to say that nipping out for a smoke was rationed somewhat.

I was out with the dog and had to full on burqa myself up with a scarf

(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:38, Reply)
I did an 8 mile run on saturday morning
when I got back I got laughed at for looking so red and blotchy.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:41, Reply)
The morning wasn't too bad
The night was. If Mrs Cow isn't gyming this evening I'll be out for 5-6k
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:42, Reply)
Nice one.
I'm only doing 3 miles tonight.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 14:02, Reply)
I did three miles this morning.
Fast ones, mind.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 14:04, Reply)
Mine will probably be cautious due to the amount of snow on the ground.

(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 14:13, Reply)
Which bit?
We're only about four miles from the coast.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:35, Reply)
We'll be staying near Warkworth, I think.
Or maybe Amble. They were the last two choices we came down to and I can't remember which one we went for. They are basically the same area though aren't they?
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:39, Reply)
About 5 mins away I think
We stayed in Amble last year. It was nice
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:40, Reply)
Fairly close together, about 2 miles apart.
Warkworth is the nicer of the two though. Very pretty, with the added bonus of having a fucking castle overlooking it.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:42, Reply)
The castle is fucking excellent!

(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:43, Reply)
That's where we are going then definitely. It definitely had a castle.

(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:43, Reply)
There was a nice Italian restaurant in Amble
and a fairly good Chinese takeaway too. I'll try and dig the names out
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:44, Reply)
I did the grant for that restaurant.
It's called Zecca.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:45, Reply)
At the top of the main street?
Sounds right that. It was very nice
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:45, Reply)
Think so, yeah.
It's in a disused bakery, the grant was for renovation costs.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:53, Reply)
Also if you get the chance to go up to Bamburgh, do.
It'll be about a half hour drive up the coast and worth it just for the castle.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:44, Reply)
Will do, thanks.
At the moment, more than almost anything, I am looking forward to going to Alnwick to vist Barter Books.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:52, Reply)
I was just going to suggest you go there.
It's fucking massive.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:53, Reply)
It was in the 'Twenty most beautiful bookshops in the world' list that was published recently
Although I have since found out that they are responsible for the popularity of 'Keep Calm And Carry On', which is a black mark, but it looks good enough for me to forgive them that.
(, Mon 6 Feb 2012, 13:57, Reply)
Well, they are that
but only due to the finding of said poster in a stockroom, I believe.
