Notice that the phrasing used states that it is called the Union Flag, but that it 'may also' be called the Union Jack. What Wikipedia doesn't say is that it may be called the Union Jack by ignorant pricks.

Plus, 'British' has two meanings- one geographical and the other cultural, as does Scottish. I was using the cultural meaning.

Wrong there. Especially considering it was Aberdeenshire, which in the 80s was at the peak of its (still considerable) oil wealth, hence local and income tax receipts being rather high.
