Years ago I did work experience at a local (sadly long since closed) music venue.
I was allowed in on the guest list for yonks after for any band playing I wanted to see. I turned down the chance to see Nirvana's first ever UK gig because "I'd never heard of them".

Apparently there were only about 100 people there.
Whilst I'm not the world's biggest fan, it would have been nice to be able to say "I was there".

I once turned down a drink with Sonja Kristina from Curved Air. To be fair, it was the whole band, roadies and associated hangers on, but it was still Sonja.

I had Fugazi stay in my flat once, as my flatmate's band supported them.
I wasn't there; I stayed at my then girlfriend's.
