I saw Godspeed a couple of years back. They were immensely tedious*.
'Post-rock'? Post-cock more like!!!!

PS Did I see you going on about Tortoise a while back? Their gig at the garage is the only one in my life where I walked out after 20 minutes. Total and utter shit. My mate claimed they were 'amazing' and bought me a ticket and even he agreed they were appalling.

*by which I mean 'they painted pictures with sound' (c) Al

I love their first two albums and the Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada EP
Yanqui UXO was pretty disappointing. I blame Steve Albini.

A friend of mine played drums in a 'post rock' band, they were excellent live, but just not even close to being as good on record.

'Post rock' means literally nothing AT ALL.

You could argue that about many genre names.

Not 'sadcore' though.

I prefer 'slowcore'

There were one or two decent post-rock albums released
But none of the bands ever really had more than one good album in them.
As a genre I think it jumped the shark about nine or ten years ago, probably around the time of the Explosions in the Sky album.
