I went to Canada two plus weeks ago under not very good circumstances, it was never really a place to think to visit before, what place have you been dragged to and found it surprisingly acceptable?

Watford is probably the crappest place I've been.
Although to be fair I spent my entire time either at work or in the pub that I was staying in.
Funny story, I tried to charge all my beer to the company. They were not impressed by this. By the end of the week I owed most of a weeks wages to the landlord.

I went to Skegness a few weeks ago, it was surprisingly nice
