For me the genre that best sums me up is indie, but not necessarily the new 'indie' stuff - more like the Pixies and Scarfo (anyone?).

An important album in my life would be Suede's 'Coming Up'. A great album and especially so coming after the departure of Bernard Butler. I was going through a lot of changes at the time (=teenager) and it hit me square in the jaw. Oasis' 'Be Here Now' had the same effect, although it was because it was rubbish and disappointed me.

The thing that winds me up the most about it,
is that they could have done anything on that 3rd album and it would have sold. But they carried on doing what they did and that was that. That's when Oasis left me. That's when the party was over.
