One of my friends was banging on about it last night
comparing it to the moon landings.
I'm pretty fucking sure it's a fairly major insult to compare "obeying the law of gravity" to the immense effort, skill and knowledge necessary to put a tiny capusle onto a rock 200,000 miles away and bring it back again. 45 years ago.

only in the same sense that you have to try and not die
in any kind of stunt.

It is something that I bear in mind in many aspects of my daily life.

Not really.
If anything it is a much bigger achievement.

you know when he hit the speed of sound
would there have been a sonic boom, like, coming off his own head?
wouldn't that be deafening or something?

it's ok, google told me the atmosphere was too thin to make a proper sonic boom
i'm pretty sure that makes him gay

they should fire him out of a massive cannon here on earth matching the speed he went at up there
so we can hear him "boom"

erm, how?
it was done 50 years ago (as in jumping from space). How was it an "achievement" in any sense at all?
Unless you mean breaking the sound barrier. I fail to see how breaking the sound barrier in a spacesuit alone is somehow much harder than breaking the sound barrier in a space suit inside a metal box.

the spacesuit was from Primark

now, that's an achievement.
trying to get down to earth fast enough before the shoddy stitching comes undone.

Unlike the moon landings, Felix had to raise £400 for Children in Need.
Otherwise he'd have had to pay to do his jump.

I'd have liked to see him fall from that height in to a bathtub full of baked beans

His spacesuit should have been furry
and had a spotty eyepatch.
