oh man
I've had an extremely trying day.

What kind of day have you had?
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 19:08, 90 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Long one.
I've booked my teams Christmas meal. Fuck me, it's a free feed why so many opinions about where to go?
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 19:27, Reply)
alright Jefferino?
Free feeds need to be somewhere with good food is all.

Ours is at a Hilton.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 19:29, Reply)
Convenient for the station then
We had an xmas do there many years ago. There were about 6 seperate parties going on and a huge fight broke out in one of them. Food flying everywhere, mottled women scrapping on the floor, fat polyester-shirted geezers smacking each other with chairs etc. - hellfire!
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 19:38, Reply)
not the shit one, the Double Trees

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:21, Reply)
Down by the Yorkshire Post place? Wellington Street?
Oh its ... never been there.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:31, Reply)
No.
Across the road from my work, next to Investec and Zurich.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:43, Reply)
I'm still having it
Averaged out I've probably worked for less than call centre wage today.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 19:33, Reply)

Not too bad, really. Up at 0800. Read local paper. Walked dog. Did dishes. Looked at interwebby thingy. Ate lunch. Walked dog. Did mother's shopping. Got text saying Comet had 70% off everything. Went to Comet. Utter shite.
Set coal fire. Peeled some tatties. Watched news. Lit fire. Gammon steak and boiled tatties and peas. Watching Rick Stein Mediterranean thingummy and keeping an eye on here.
It's all go, really. I don't know how my heart manages the excitement
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 20:17, Reply)
Is that it then?
I'm 44 tomorrow. I suppose I care about this enough to say it but I don't feel middle-aged, which I unquestionably am.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:11, Reply)

Happy birthday when it comes, TD.
Still young, you are.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:17, Reply)
I'm still 25.
It's a number and if you want it to be important it can be.

The one greatest difference between homo sapiens and the other mammals is that we have an understanding of a lifespan.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:38, Reply)
Then you ought to understand that, realistically, 44 is past the middle.
You're on the downward slope now, sunshine.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:41, Reply)
This gives me an excuse to continue my dissolute lifestyle.
Because retrospectively looking at 22 year old TD I'm surprised I've got this far.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:47, Reply)
Probably wont be on here tomorrow night,
So I'll wish you happy birthday now:
Happy birthday TD.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:34, Reply)
I thank you
I'll be busy tomorrow night too.

Lighty is a bit older than me so I can't claim oldest O/T correspondent.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:43, Reply)
Occasional poster and my fellow Coventrian, Cap Placid is around the half century mark (I think), so you're doing alright.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:46, Reply)
Former poster BGB is a couple of years older than me too.
And Captain Hood Butter - 70 if he's a day.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:53, Reply)
Captain Hood Butter is well lol

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:54, Reply)
He's way cool.
I wish he posted here more.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:55, Reply)
I was at my old old job one Sunday afternoon
When he explained just how good he was, and I'm sure some obsessive will have saved that post.

Evenin fellow shutins
I've had an OK day, got lots of boring stuff done, still tired and coldy but I'm getting used to it, maybe this is what getting old is like.

think I migth put my slippers on.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:34, Reply)
Alright Quey

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:36, Reply)
ALright Tang?
I'm wearing my slipers. they are quite DOzer, they are blue suede.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:39, Reply)
I'm not succumbing to it yet - nipping out for a joint and I don't own any slippers.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:42, Reply)
I've got cthulu slippers

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:51, Reply)
I know, I envy you.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 21:57, Reply)
I'm almost certain they are not an enviable item.
I mean, Cavy owns them.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:00, Reply)
WHAT?!
I am a fashion icon, everyone wants to be like me. I own skinny jeans, now
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:01, Reply)
No offence, Cavers.
Well... A bit, but y'know...
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:01, Reply)
this is clearly very offensive
to someone who spends so much time crafting every outfit she wears. Faded black tshirts, scruffy trousers a size too big and a fedora doesn't just happen you know
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:04, Reply)
How are you still single?

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:05, Reply)
it's hard to say
I suspect it's because I'm so far ahead of the fashion curve
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:06, Reply)
Alright Dozer, give Cavy her login back.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:08, Reply)
I do own a sparkly turquoise jacket with
butterflies on I found in a charity shop. I imagine that's how Dozer dresses, only with more flatcaps
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:09, Reply)
I'm sure TD can confirm this.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:10, Reply)
I have met Dozer
He explained his fashionable garb to me and then we drank a lot.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:13, Reply)
Haha
I'm glad to hear that he does it in person too.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:14, Reply)
TD is pulling your leg.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:17, Reply)
What were you wearing when you met TD?

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:18, Reply)
Office gear.
Black shirt, I think possibly a pullover, grey trousers, brown shoes.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:19, Reply)
What was I wearing?

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:20, Reply)
Green jumper, glasses, a bent expression.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:22, Reply)
I wear glasses. I don't have a green jumper. I have a disrtessing visage which could be construed as bent.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:25, Reply)

I have a pair of vegetarian desert boots.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:18, Reply)
I had a pair

Roamers are about the best.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:05, Reply)

KERCHIEF

In the morning
folded with its wild flowers
washed and ironed
it takes up little space in the drawer.

Shaking it open
she ties it round her head.

In the evening she pulls it off
and lets it fall
still knotted to the floor.

On a cotton scarf
among printed flowers
a working day
has written its dream.

delicious
and poetic

One of my friends with kids
just posted a picture. Apparently his daughter (who is about 2) thought that perhaps it was a bear that had sneaked to the fuse box and turned off all the lights. He told her that if that were true there would be evidence.

So he's spilled flour over the flour by the cupboard and made bear prints in it.

Being a git to gullible kids would seem to me to be the only advantage of being a parent
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:29, Reply)
It is one of the pleasures, yes.

(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:31, Reply)
how do you mock your kid

Saw them recently playing the Claire Denis film scores.
Stuart had lost his voice, which was a pity, but it was still excellent.
(, Thu 8 Nov 2012, 22:49, Reply)
I saw them years ago in Nottingham.
I had hoped to be the most street person in the audience but there was this one guy who was more of a homeboy than me :'(
