He also pronounces 'nachos' as if it were a Greek island.

Excellent

My grandad used "onvalope" and "plah-stick"

(, Fri 16 Nov 2012, 10:42, Reply)
I don't do the latter but am guilty of the former.
I also have a running battle with my daughter about the correct way to say 'tissue'.

With a "sh"
With a "ss" is horribly affected.

Always with a ss.

(, Fri 16 Nov 2012, 10:48, Reply)
Not if that's how you were taught to say it.
Then saying it with a 'sh' is affected. People who say 'lickerish' annoy the hell out of me, too.

I draw the line at 'syoot' for 'suit' though.

(, Fri 16 Nov 2012, 10:49, Reply)
People who say "lickeriss" need stabbing.
So. We have reached an impasse. I shall see you under the beech tree at 6am. Bring a second.
(, Fri 16 Nov 2012, 10:50, Reply)
I expect you pronounce that a 'shecond', you malodorous oaf.
