Is that still dragging on?
Fucking hell. I'm on my first one, renovating it slowly. Houses on my street get snapped up though, the one across the road went in a week.

The restored windmill probably has something to do with it.

Plus York has naff all crime and a rather nice city centre. I prefer Leeds though.

Yeah, still dragging on. I NEED to buy the house near the seafront and if I dont sell mine I'm fucked

Not worth it.

could he not get a buy to let mortgage,
and jut rent the old one out to cover costs until the market becomes more buoyant?
hang on, that is a bit rude.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:05, Reply)
Do you mean a let to buy mortgage?
Possibly, I can recommend some excellent IFAs in his area.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:07, Reply)
i'm pretty sure i mean buy to let, or maybe I don't,
god knows.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:08, Reply)
Let to Buy mortgages allow you to use an existing property as security, in place of a deposit.
So he would get one on his house, rent it out for a bit and have the mortgage to buy the new one.

A buy to let would be if he had a house already and was buying a property to rent out, as an investment.

Different products for different situations.

yeah, right, well i mean let to buy.

(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:12, Reply)
I don't think he is very receptive to my idea.

(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:13, Reply)
I don't think so either.
Might be appropriate for him.

I was just trying to be supportive by offering alternatives.

(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:15, Reply)
This may be a good idea

York is great to visit, for sure
But culturally it's fucking dull. And it's expensive as fuck. And there are only three decent sized employers. And the nightlife is based around bars rather than clubs.

I prefer Leeds.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:02, Reply)
I loved my last family trip to York

(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:05, Reply)
IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKE YORK SO EXPENSIVE AND DULL!

Yeah, thanks, I work for an IFA firm, I know what products are available.
Have I told you about this great new drink called 'beer'?
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:12, Reply)
Look,
no need to start with that tone just because i let a man I didn't know very well do all the work for my mortgage, and then paid him handsomely in the hope he hadn't fucked me over.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:14, Reply)
If he was independent and a member of a National or Network then you won't have been fucked over.
Plus, advisers can get struck off for fucking clients over, so an extra £200 versus being struck off, they'll probably opt for staying authorised.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:16, Reply)
yeah, he came highly reccomended,
and so far, if i believe the letters he sends me every 6 months or so, we have saved a few hundred quid already.
(, Thu 20 Dec 2012, 21:17, Reply)
If he's fee based rather than commission then you'll have saved the £500 within a year or two.
There's no way you can find the best deals on your own. Even if they only beat your own researched deal by 0.25% on the interest rate you've made that fee back.
