Are you confusing Van Halen with Huey Lewis and the News?

Nope, that bit where Marty says he's Darth Vader?
The cassette in his Walkman is Van Halen.

Impressive geekery there
Take some points, a viable alternative to coitus

It's not that impressive
the tape says 'EDWARD VAN HALEN' on it in large writing. The tune is 'Eruption' if you care, and even if you don't.
That is more impressive geekery than a display of the simple ability to read.

I liked their first 3 or four LPs and whilst he is responsible for a lot of other people playing terrible widdly guitar
you cannot deny the dexterity of young Eddie.

Yeah? YEAH?
Well at least when I was hanging around outside hotels like a vagrant, I didn't mistake a wagon full of council estate slags on a hen do saying "ugh, look at that smelly tramp" for "oh my god he's gorgeous!" and then have my mate piss on me.
YEAH I WENT THERE

You want some real Back to the Future/Guitar geekery
The guitar that Marty plays at the dance is a Gibson ES-345, which wasn't introduced until 1958. The pickups in the guitar wouldn't have been invented until 1957.

I suspect it was because the 'joke' was that it was Chuck Berry's cousin in the band.
And Berry is associated with ES-335s & 345s.
They should have used a ES-350T

Ironically, No One Knows is the QOTSA song that everyone knows
and once a song is appreciated by more then seven people it falls of Dozer's COOLDAR

I don't know if I've heard any of that.
But assuming it is actually a sub-genre of jazz and not merely an ironolol name for an entirely different genre, then I am willing to bet I'll hate it.
